Lockdown Browser and Language Input

Our students often need to use Lockdown Browser to complete tasks.  Typing in a foreign language can be tricky, as accessing the input with a mouse could cause the browser to detect (falsely) cheating and close the window. Here are solutions to prevent.

For Spanish, Portuguese, German, Italian, Swahili, & French languages.

Lockdown browser has built-in diacritical marking input assistance. The lockdown browser has built-in diacritical marks. This is useful for both Windows and Mac users. https://support.respondus.com/hc/en-us/articles/4409604121499-Accents-For-Languages

If your diacritical marking can not be found, Windows users can find ALT+ methods seen below on this page or follow the link - https://altcodeunicode.com/ . Mac users, long-press the character you need the accent or refer to this page - https://support.apple.com/guide/pages/accents-emoji-and-special-characters-tanec2c2fdfd/mac .

For Arabic, Chinese, Russian, Korean, & Japanese

Since Lockdown Browser will assume you are cheating when you try to change the language input with a mouse, you need to be able to switch between the languages with the keyboard.

Windows 11 - Students MUST use the floating language bar. First, install the language, then follow the directions here. https://www.webnots.com/language-bar-missing-in-taskbar-here-is-how-to-enable-in-windows-11/

Windows 10 - Students MUST use the floating language bar. First, install the language, then follow the directions here. https://baylor.box.com/s/mc311qvt2os084bpfqmdo0vo5vwkn252

Mac - Students MUST toggle the language with the "keyboard shortcut." First, install the language, then follow the directions here. https://baylor.box.com/s/008eb79u953vyzubdu9l6iute0ua0y8o
