Japanese Language Assistant

Nicole Adams is a junior majoring in history on the pre-law track with a minor in Japanese. She is from Pohnpei, Micronesia and moved to Camas, Washington for high school. After taking Japanese for three years in middle school, she is aiming to become more fluent through the Japanese language program here at Baylor. She hopes to one day be able to travel to Japan and meet and talk with her friends that live there. She is excited to be part of the IMLC team. 

ニコール ・アダムス は ベイラー大学の学生です。二年生で、専攻は歴史です。ニコールの出身はミクロネシアのポナペですが、高校の時ワシントンのカマスで勉強しました。いつか、日本に行きたいです。ニコールは日本人の友達とまた会いたくて、日本語で話したいです。

Applied Linguistics Assistant

Charlie Clark is a sophomore University Scholar with concentrations in Women and Gender Studies, as well as Asian Studies, and with a second major in Linguistics and a minor in Japanese. Clark is from Canyon, Texas, but moved back and forth from Poland, Japan, and the United States several times during childhood, where her interest in languages began. Clark is also an active member of the Golden Wave Marching Band and serves as historian for Baylor's Japanese Student Association.  Following graduation, Clark intends to attend graduate school to pursue a PhD. in Linguistics.

チャーリー・クラークは二年生、出身はテキサスのカンヨンです。せんこうはユニバーシティ・スカラーズで、言語学と日本語とアジア研究と女性学を勉強しています。クラークは11歳の時東京に住んでいましたから、日本語とアジアを勉強するようになりました。ベイラー大学のゴールデン・ウェーブ・マーチングバンドのメンバーです。また、日本人学生会のれきしがかりです。卒業した後、大学院に行き、先生になるつもりです。

Web Content Manager and Chinese Language Assistant

Liv Follis is a junior economics major, minoring in math, and currently pursuing an accelerated M.S. in economics. She was adopted from Jiangxi, China, as a child and was raised in Houston, Texas. She started learning Chinese language during her freshmen year at Baylor to become more connected with her culture. She loves to travel and hopes to return to China someday. After graduating Baylor, she plans to work in the public sector. She is excited to be part of the IMLC team.

余沛是一名大三经济学专业学生,辅修数学,目前正在攻读经济学硕士学位。她儿时被从中国江西领养,并在德克萨斯州休斯顿长大。为了更好地了解自己的文化,她在大一入学贝勒大学后开始学习中文。她热爱旅行,并希望有一天能回到中国。从贝勒大学毕业后,她计划在公共部门工作。她很高兴能成为 IMLC 团队的一员。

Chinese Language Assistant

Weitong Gao is a junior pursuing a major in Biochemistry and a minor in Chinese on a Pre-Med track. She is from Houston, Texas, a city rich in cultural and linguistic diversity. Growing up in a Chinese household and coming to college as a first-generation student inspires her to bring appreciation for multilingual representation in higher education. Driven by a commitment to medicine, Weitong intends to apply her Chinese-language proficiency to improve healthcare outcomes for underserved minority communities in the future. Following graduation, she plans to enter a higher education program to pursue a combined M.D./Ph.D. degree.

高玮彤是一名大三,医学预科学生。她在贝勒大学主修生物化学,辅修中文。玮彤来自德克萨斯州的休斯顿,一个文化和语言都非常多元化的城市。在中国家庭长大,并作为家中第一代大学生,她立志在高等教育领域倡导对多语种的重视。出于对医学事业的热忱,高玮彤计划将来运用她的中文能力去帮助和改善弱势少数族裔群体的医疗保健状况。毕业后,她计划继续深造,去攻读医学博士和哲学博士(M.D./P.h.D.)双学位。

Jocelyn Grimaldo is a sophomore majoring in Biology on the pre-med track. She is from Houston, Texas where she grew up in a diverse community. Growing up in a Hispanic household, she inherited the language of Spanish along with its culture. Interested in learning a third language, she studied Japanese for three semesters at Baylor University. In the future, she hopes to use and further expand her language skills and apply it to her professional career.

Jocelyn Grimaldo es estudiante de segundo año en la Universidad de Baylor, en donde ella está cursando una licenciatura en Biología. Nació en Houston, Texas rodeada de una comunidad diversa. Creció en un hogar hispano, en donde aprendió el idioma español y su cultura. En su interés por aprender un tercer idioma, ella tomó tres semestres de clases de Japonés en la Universidad de Baylor. En el futuro, ella espera aumentar e implementar sus habilidades de lenguaje en su carrera profesional.

Russian Language and Multilingual Assistant

Emily May is a sophomore double major in Linguistics and Russian Language from Santa Rosa, California. When she was young, she fell in love with other languages and cultures. She has studied Swedish and Hawaiian since childhood, initially sparking her love of linguistics. She studied French throughout the entirety of high school along with Tsalagi (ᏣᎳᎩ) in order to connect with her Native American heritage. Here at Baylor, she is currently studying Russian, German, and Hebrew with future plans of studying the Chinese language in the future. After graduating, she plans to continue her studies in graduate school and continue learning her love and interest for endangered and Indigenous languages and cultures. She is excited to be part of the IMLC team!

Она очень любит лингвистику и изучение русского языка. Ей нравится делать украшения в стиле индейцев. Она хочет уметь говорить по-русски и путешествовать по русскоязычным странам в будущем.

Spanish Language Assistant

Valeria Muñiz is a sophomore Neuroscience major with a minor in Spanish. She is from Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, and El Cenizo, Texas, both border towns filled with culture and loving people. Being a first-generation student and first-generation American, she has seen firsthand the importance of language representation in academic spaces and hopes to integrate the Spanish language into her research. After graduation, Valeria hopes to pursue a PhD Neuroscience program and continue in academia. 

Valeria Muñiz es estudiante de segundo año persiguiendo su licenciatura en neurociencia y una especialización secundaria en español. Ella es de los pueblos Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas en el lado mexicano, y El Cenizo, Texas en el lado estadounidense, ambos son pueblos fronterizos con una multitud de cultura hermosa y gente amable. Siendo estudiante de primera generación y estadounidense de primera generación, ha visto de primera mano la importancia de la representación lingüística en los espacios académicos y espera poder integrar el español en sus investigaciones científicas. Después de graduarse, Valeria quiere seguir un programa de doctorado en neurociencia y continuar involucrada en el mundo académico.

Applied Linguistics Assistant

Riya Natarajan is a freshman University Scholars major with concentrations in Biology and Linguistics and a minor in Medical Humanities. Growing up in a multilingual home in Pleasanton, California, Riya’s love for language started with Malayalam and Tamil, eventually leading her to experiment with Japanese and ASL while studying Spanish in school. Traveling often, she saw how language can work as a beautiful tool to form connections with people, and was inspired to study Linguistics at Baylor. After graduating, Riya plans to earn her medical degree and become a physician.


ரியா நடராஜன் ஒரு முதலாம் ஆண்டு மாணவி. கலிபோர்னியாவில் உள்ள பிளெசன்டன் நகரில் பல மொழிகள் பேசப்படும் ஒரு குடும்பத்தில் வளர்ந்த ரியாவுக்கு, மலையாளம் மற்றும் தமிழ் மொழிகள் மீது ஏற்பட்ட ஆர்வம்தான், இறுதியில் பள்ளியில் ஸ்பானிஷ் படிக்கும்போதே ஜப்பானிய மற்றும் அமெரிக்க சைகை மொழிகளையும் கற்றுக்கொள்ள அவரைத் தூண்டியது.

Korean Language Assistant

Billy Jinsoo Noh is an undergraduate student at Baylor University, majoring in Psychology with a minor in Educational Psychology. Born in South Korea, he spent 10 years each living in China and South Korea, experiences that shaped his multicultural perspective on education and psychology. He is especially interested in child psychology and hopes to return to South Korea after graduation to further his studies in this field and contribute to supporting children’s mental health and development.

노진수는 베일러 대학교에서 심리학을 전공하고 교육심리학을 부전공으로 공부하고 있는 학생입니다. 한국에서 태어나 중국과 한국에서 각각 10년씩 생활한 경험은 교육과 심리에 대한 다문화적 시각을 형성하는 데 큰 영향을 주었습니다. 그는 특히 아동 심리에 깊은 관심을 가지고 있으며, 졸업 후 한국으로 돌아가 이 분야를 더욱 연구하고 어린이들의 정신 건강과 발달을 지원하는데 기여하고자 합니다.

Marissa Ramos is a junior double-majoring in Neuroscience and Political Science with a minor in Military Studies on the pre-law track. She is from Houston, Texas, and is a proud first-generation college student and Trailblazer Scholar. Marissa has a deep interest in the intersections of law, national security, and ethics, and she hopes to pursue a career in litigation and intelligence with the United States Government. Her cultural background and bilingual skills inspire her to promote language representation in academic spaces and to continue connecting her heritage to her future professional goals.

Marissa Ramos es estudiante de tercer año en la Universidad de Baylor, donde cursa una doble licenciatura en neurociencia y ciencias políticas, con una especialización secundaria en estudios militares y la ruta de pre-derecho. Ella es originaria de Houston, Texas, y se enorgullece de ser estudiante universitaria de primera generación y becaria de Trailblazer. Marissa tiene un gran interés en la relación entre el derecho, la seguridad nacional y la ética, y espera seguir una carrera en litigio e inteligencia con el Gobierno de los Estados Unidos. Su identidad cultural y habilidades bilingües la motivan a promover la representación lingüística en los espacios académicos y a conectar su herencia con sus metas profesionales.

Camila Rendon is a senior majoring in International Studies with minors in Business Administration and Spanish. Camila is from Frisco, Texas, yet she grew up frequently visiting her family in Colombia. Camila has studied abroad in Spain through Baylor in Denia and as an exchange student at Saint Louis University - Madrid, as well as in Chile with The Fund for American Studies. She volunteers with La Puerta Waco, teaching English as a Second Language courses for Spanish-speakers. Camila is passionate about the intersection of language exchange, foreign relations, and public policy. This spring, she is thrilled to be part of the iMLC and continue pursuing her interests.

Camila Rendon es una estudiante en su último año de Estudios Internacionales con especializaciones secundarias en Administración de Empresas y Español. Camila es de Frisco, Texas, pero creció visitando con frecuencia a su familia en Colombia. Ha estudiado en el extranjero en España a través del programa de Baylor en Denia y como estudiante de intercambio en Saint Louis University - Madrid. También estudió en Chile con The Fund for American Studies. Es voluntaria en La Puerta Waco, donde enseña clases de inglés como segundo idioma para hispanohablantes. A Camila le apasiona el vínculo entre el intercambio lingüístico, las relaciones internacionales, y las políticas públicas. Esta primavera, está muy contenta de formar parte del iMLC y de seguir desarrollando sus intereses.

Walker Snider is a sophomore double-majoring in English and International Studies on a pre-law track with a Japanese minor. He is from Beaumont, Texas and is involved with Model United Nations and Japanese Honor Society at Baylor. Walker began learning Japanese as a freshman at Baylor and hopes to to continue learning after graduating. Walker is excited to be apart of the IMLC team.

ウォーカー・スナイダーは英語と国際学の二年生で、法学前課程の学生で、日本語副専攻です。出身はテキサスのボーマントです。ウォーカーはベイラー大学でMUNやJHSに入っています。ウォーカーはベイラーの一年生のときに日本語を学び始めました。卒業後も学び続けたいです。ウォーカーはIMLCチームの一員になれて嬉しいです。

Camden Stockwell is a freshman majoring in Marketing, pursuing a minor in Spanish as well. He grew up in Zionsville, Indiana before coming to Baylor. He began learning Spanish early in his education and quickly became interested in communication across cultures. He hopes to one day use his Spanish in the business world to make a difference and be involved in different parts of the world. He is excited to be part of the iMLC team.

Japanese Language Assistant

Katy Walker is a senior majoring in marketing and minoring in Japanese. She was born in Hong Kong but had moved back and forth between Hong Kong and Houston, TX until 2012. Growing up in an international family, she learned Japanese at a young age, and she also studied abroad for two semesters at Hosei University in Tokyo, Japan. She is currently studying marketing at the Hankamer School of Business with a background in graphic designing. She is planning to attend language school in Japan to continue with developing her language skills while taking on a part-time job as she works to eventually get a full-time job in marketing and business.

キャサリン・ウォーカーは、マーケティングを専攻し、日本語を副専攻しているシニアです。彼女は香港で生まれ、2012年まで香港とテキサス州ヒューストンを行き来しながら育ちました。国際的な家庭環境で育ったため、幼い頃から日本語を学び、また東京にある法政大学へ2学期間の留学を経験しています。現在は、グラフィックデザインのバックグラウンドを活かしながら、ハンカマー・スクール・オブ・ビジネスでマーケティングを学んでいます。将来的にはマーケティングおよびビジネス分野でのフルタイムの仕事に就くことを目標に、日本で語学学校に通いながら語学力の向上を図り、同時にアルバイトをする予定です。
